The Wellness Wheel

How Can We Experience Human Wholeness in Ministry?

The Wellness Wheel was first suggested as an assessment tool for professional church workers and the congregations they serve in 1997. Grace Place Wellness Ministries has shared the Wheel with thousands of workers and hundreds of congregations because it so beautifully expresses the inter-related nature of all the aspects of wellbeing.  We experience God’s Shalom of wholeness and unity only to the degree that we find Christ’s healing grace at work in all aspects of life: baptismal, spiritual, relational, intellectual, emotional, vocational, physical and financial.

Life with God

Baptismal and Spiritual Wellness, the center hub and the outer rim of the Wheel, influence all the other parts of life and together form a cluster of wellness that we call Life with God. All health and wellness is grounded in our identity as children of God and the nourishment of his Word in our lives.

Life in Community

Relational, Intellectual and Emotional Wellness form a second cluster of closely related topics that together address the various aspects of Life in Community: in our homes, our neighborhoods, our congregations and in team ministries.

Life in Ministry

You may find that your work on Vocational Wellness will be closely tied to the Physical and Financial aspects of life. Together the three form a cluster we call Life in Ministry, because we’re only able to engage fully in our Vocational callings when we experience a satisfying foundation of Physical and Financial wholeness.

So, how are you doing right now?
